10 Favorite Chew Necklaces for Shirt Chewing
8th Jul 2026
Are you looking for safe, simple outlets for chewing on the collar or sleeves of shirts? We've got you covered! We have chew tools for a number of different sensory needs, and have a great list of top picks for shirt chewing.
As a general rule, the best shirt chewing chew necklaces are either strung horizontally on the necklace cord to mimic the motion of pulling up the shirt to the mouth to chew, or they're a wider shape so they can be chewed on with more of the front teeth/premolars.
.

Chew tools can help both kids and adults calm, focus, self-regulate, manage stress and anxiety, and much more. For shirt chewers, along with the horizonal design and shapes, it's good to think about how much damage your chewer does to their clothing or other items they may chew. This helps to determine what toughness level they should try. Clothing tends to be a pretty easy thing to do damage to, so we typically stick with softer levels in our recommendations here - read on for an overview of our three toughness levels: Standard Softest, XT Medium, and XXT Toughest.
All ARK chew tools come in 3 color-coded toughness levels:
- Soft / Standard — this is the softest option, with the most "chewability". Long and slender shapes will be the softest in this level. We recommend going with Soft by default, unless the person chews through or causes damage to anything else, in which case you may want to level up to XT for something longer lasting.
- XT / Medium Firm — XT stands for "Xtra Tough." This option is firmer, but still fairly chewy. If someone chews through things or prefers to chew on items with more resistance (like their fingers/hands, pencils, etc) it's usually best to start with this level.
- XXT / Super Firm — XXT stands for "Xtra Xtra Tough." This is the most firm option. These are pretty tough and rigid, but still chewable. Wide/thick shapes will be the toughest. Although no chew tool is indestructible, these are usually the longest lasting option for heavy chewers who have chewed through the XT level, and/or who chew through other things quickly (chews through hard toys, chews holes in shirts very quickly.)
Below are the ones that we recommend everyday for shirt chewing, but what each person considers their 'just right' chew can be different. So please feel free to check out our entire line of chew tools if these don't feel like the best fit.
For the Mild Chewer
The Chewlinder is a great option for the shirt chewer who doesn't do much damage to their clothes (maybe they just usually soak the collar, but no holes). This is a squishy, satisfying hollow style.
- Horizontally strung on necklace cord
- Hollow, very chewy
- Great for mild chewers (not very resistant, even in toughest level)
The Loop necklace is a thin chew that is similar in thickness to the collar of a thicker shirt or sweatshirt. Since it's thin, it is a very flexible and soft chew even in the toughest level. As a bonus, this one is a go-to for nail biting as well.
- Thin, chewy shape
- Neutral and discreet design, great for teens or adults
- Also great for nail biting
For the Moderate Chewer
ARK Krypto-Bite® Chewable Tube Necklace
The Krypto-Bite Tube necklace is the 'cousin' of our Krypto-Bite® Gem necklace. It's got that same prism-esque shape, but strung horizontally on the necklace cord, making it a hit for shirt chewing. This one has a smaller 'hollow' opening, so it's a bit more durable than the Chewlinder.
- More durable in the medium or toughest levels than the Chewlinder
- Strung horizontally to mimic clothing chewing
- Available in lots of color options
The Chew Tags are a thinner style that features two dog tag-shaped necklaces on the necklace cord — these are not as wide as a horizontally strung chew, so they're great for those who tend to focus chewing more with the front teeth. The Chew Tags are a more neutral design, so they also work for a discreet option.
- Two tag-shaped pendants on a necklace cord
- Thin, neutral shape
- Great for front teeth chewing
ARK Blizzard Bite™ Snowflake Chewelry
This chilly chew may be underrated, but it's a great option for folks who chew on thinner things — like shirt collars/sleeves, or bite their fingernails or lips. It's a wider, flat, thin shape with a mild texture. Shirt collar chewers may enjoy this slightly raised texture to help mimic the texture that you find on some shirt collars.
- Thin, rounded design
- Mild texture on front, smooth on back
- Ideal for front teeth/premolar chewing
ARK Smiley Face Chewmoji® Chewelry
Similar in thickness to the Blizzard Bite, the Smiley Face features a double sided design — a smile on one side, and a cool sunglasses face on the other. This will have less of a textured feel than the Blizzard Bite, but a similar wide, rounded shape.
- Cool double sided design that's unique on each side
- Wide, rounded shape great for premolar/front teeth chewing
- Thickness that lends a bit more durability in higher levels (medium/toughest)
For the Avid Chewer
The Chevron is our go-to for avid chewers who tend to go for their shirt collars or sleeves while chewing. It's strung horizontally to help mimic the shirt chewing action, but its smooth and thick design makes it super durable especially in the higher toughness levels. If your chewer tends to chew holes in their clothing, the Chevron could be a good fit.
- Thick, smooth shape adds durability for avid chewers
- Simple, discreet design makes it a great teen or adult option
- Horizontal orientation helps the transition from shirt biting
The Ring necklace is a simple, neutral design that is great for the avid chewer who wants to keep their chewing a bit more low-key. It's a wide, rounded design with thickness that adds durability. This Ring is pretty resistant even in the softest level, but bumping up to medium or toughest makes it a winner for strong chewers. The wide shape is what makes it a good option for shirt chewing too.
- Wide, rounded shape
- Great thickness for avid chewers
- Simple, neutral, discreet design
This chew is on the thicker end of chews that we'd recommend for shirt collar or sleeve chewing, but if you've got a super avid chewer who likes chewing with the front teeth or premolars, it's still a good pick! If you or your chewer likes chewing on thicker items like blankets, quilts, etc, the softest level could be a good blend of thickness and texture while still being chewy.
- Thick shape adds durability for those who have chewed through things before
- Fun pirate theme, with a unique design on each side
- Wide, rounded shape great for premolar/front teeth chewing
The Flower necklace is another fairly thick option that's best suited for strong chewers who favor chewing with their front teeth or premolars. It features a fun flower shape and a very mild texture along the edge of the petals.
- Wide design for front teeth chewing
- Mild texture
- Thick shape to help add durability for avid chewers
Overall, our top three picks for shirt chewing are the Chewlinder, Krypto-Bite Tube, and the Chevron — these are the shapes that are best suited for shirt chewing, and that we recommend everyday to our customers. If you're not sure which option to go with, one of these three is a safe bet. We offer these in a bundle pack now as well!
