We purchased this for our son who has autism and sensory processing disorder. We have another z-pen product that we use to stimulate the sensation around his mouth that has helped tremendously with drooling and muscle tone in his face. It has been amazing so we thought we would give this a try. The reason my title is pros and cons is that although my son likes the way the pen feels in his hand, the noise drives him crazy. With his auditory processing issues, he is incredibly distracted by noises and can hear everything. Although I find the pen to be a steady humming noise, albeit a bit loud, he finds it to be deafening to the point that he cannot focus. I wish it came with the option of a high or low pulse, but there is only one option, which is pretty high in my opinion. Every child on the spectrum is so different, I have learned there is no one size fits all. I am still hopeful that he might be able to adjust to the noise and that this will be able to assist with his fine motor issues and fatigue while writing. Time will tell!
