Getting Started

Three steps to your first session.

Your Z-Vibe ships pre-assembled with the battery already installed — ready to use right out of the box.

01

Choose your tip.

If you ordered multiple tips — decide which tip you'd like to use and twist it into the handle.

02

Twist to turn on.

Twist the Switch Tip into the opposite end of the handle until it begins to vibrate. Twist in the opposite direction to stop.

03

Start slowly.

Vibration can be alerting at first. Begin with the tool off, then introduce vibration on the hands or arms before working toward the mouth.

The Z-Vibe has done wonders for our son in the feeding department. He started putting the spoon further in his mouth after using the Z-Vibe — then last night he ate his ENTIRE dinner!

Therapy Exercises

Five foundational exercises to get started.

Always work under direct adult supervision and adjust based on the individual's response.

Illustrated examples of five Z-Vibe therapy exercises: Oral Awareness, Lip Closure, Tongue Lateralization, Tongue Elevation, and Jaw Strength
Fig.1

Oral Awareness

Stroke, tap, and apply gentle pressure to the lips, top and sides of the tongue, and inside and outside of the cheeks. Over time, this tactile input can help normalize sensitivities. With the Probe or Mini Tip, start with the smooth side first, then progress to striated, then bumpy.

Lip Closure

Place the tip horizontally between the center of the lips. Have the individual close their lips firmly around the tip and hold — using lips, not biting. Work up to 5 seconds. Follow up with /p/ /b/ /m/ sound production.

Tongue Lateralization

Place the tip at the corner of the lips. Have the individual touch it with the tip of their tongue. Repeat several times on both sides. To increase difficulty, have them push against the tip for resistance.

Tongue Elevation

Apply gentle upward pressure to the alveolar ridge (just behind the upper front teeth) with a tip. Then have the individual touch the same spot with their tongue tip and hold — up to one minute. Follow with /t/ /d/ /n/ /l/.

Jaw Strength & Stability

Place a Bite-n-Chew Tip between the premolars. Bite and hold for 5–10 second increments. Repeat on both sides. Watch for upper and lower central teeth to align with no jaw sliding. Support the chin if needed.

A few principles to keep in mind.

01

Vibration is optional.

By no means do you HAVE to use vibration. Even with the tool turned off, the Z-Vibe and its tips still provide tactile information to the cheeks, lips, tongue, and gums — helping direct the articulators to where they need to be. Some individuals warm up to vibration over time; others do best without it.

02

Watch for signs of refusal.

If at any point the individual shows signs of refusal — grimacing, pushing the tool away, turning the head — discontinue therapy at that point, before they reject the stimulation. Use the tool again in the next session, starting below the point of rejection and ending before it occurs.

03

Frequency over duration.

Frequent short exercises throughout the day matter more than the number completed in any single session. Work on individualized progress, monitor the response, and adjust accordingly. The goal isn't intensity — it's consistency.

Inspect regularly
Discard at first sign of wear or damage.
Safety Information

A few things to keep in mind.

The Z-Vibe is a therapeutic tool, not a toy. It should be used under direct supervision of a therapist or trained caregiver at all times.

Choking hazard Contains small parts. Adult assembly and disassembly required. Do not allow the individual to remove parts themselves.
Direct supervision required For use by a professional therapist or a caregiver trained in oral motor tools. Use must be supervised at all times.
Handle vs. tips Only the tips designed for biting and chewing should go in the mouth. Never chew on the handle.
Vibration concerns Consult the individual's physician before using vibration if there are medical concerns. The Z-Vibe can also always be used without vibration.
Battery safety Do not install backward, recharge, or expose to fire — risk of leak, explosion, or injury. Dispose per local regulations. Some regions (such as the EU) may require special disposal.
