Meet the Z-Vibe® Plus

Meet the Z-Vibe® Plus

20th Aug 2026

If you've spent time in an oral motor or feeding session, there's a good chance you already know the Z-Vibe. For more than twenty years it's been the vibrating oral motor tool therapists reach for and families keep coming back to. Today it grows! We'd like to introduce the Z-Vibe Plus.

A young child sits on a parent's lap at home, mouthing the Z-Vibe Plus while both parents smile.

What the Z-Vibe does

At its heart, the Z-Vibe uses gentle vibration to wake up the mouth. That input helps build oral awareness, eases work on oral sensitivities, and gives a lot of kids the organized feedback they're quietly looking for during feeding and oral motor goals. When a mouth needs a little extra to tune in, that gentle buzz is often the way in.

Where it came from

The Z-Vibe exists because our co-founders needed it to. Debbie, a speech-language pathologist, kept hitting the same wall: she needed something that could safely go into the mouth and deliver real sensory input, and nothing purpose-built existed. So together with her husband John, a mechanical engineer, they invented a solution. One day, while Debbie was tapping a child's tongue to give more input during a session, John asked the question that started everything: what if it vibrated?

That question became the Z-Vibe, the original vibrating oral motor tool made specifically for therapy.  From there, the Z-Vibe family grew with dozens of tip attachments built for specific goals - all manufactured in our own factory in Columbia, South Carolina. Over the last 20 years, therapists and families have carried it into clinics, classrooms, kitchens, and beyond in more than 65 countries around the world.

Why we made the Z-Vibe® Plus

The Original is a go-to tool for speech and feeding therapy: one smooth, reliable vibration in a slim, quiet, pen-sized tool. For a lot of therapists and families, that's exactly right, and it isn't going anywhere.

But over the years, you asked us for a little more. The request we heard most often was the ability to adjust the input in the moment. Starting with a child who's very sensitive? You'd want to begin low and build slowly. Working with a sensory seeker? You might want to turn it up. So we built a handle that does both, and packed in all the other features you'ved asked for over the years!

What's new in the Plus

The Z-Vibe Plus was designed around three ideas: more control, more flexibility, and more room to adjust over time. Here's what that looks like in practice.

The Z-Vibe Plus handle: two simple buttons, plus the option to use a tip on each end.

  • Three vibration levels. Cycle from low to high with the upper button. The middle setting matches the Original, with a gentler option below and a stronger one above.
  • Pulsing modes. A double-click of the upper button switches from smooth to pulsing. Count repetitions, chew to a beat, and turn a bit of practice into play.
  • Vibration you feel in the tip. Just like the original, sensory input transfers to where it's needed, in the mouth.
  • Built-in memory. It powers back on at the last level you used, so sessions stay consistent without resetting each time.
  • Double-ended design. Put a tip on each end and switch goals mid-session without stopping.
  • Made for real life. Moisture- and waterproof, easy to clean, with a replaceable AAA battery and a flat back so it won't roll off the table. Subtle LED indicators dim after ten seconds, and an auto shut-off protects the battery. And as always - medical grade and made in the USA!

Every tip. Every handle. Both directions.

This is a benefit that we're very proud of!  The Z-Vibe Plus works with all 45+ Z-Vibe tips, and the compatibility runs both ways.

A tip ordered twenty years ago still fits the Plus today. And a tip we release this year fits a handle made two decades ago.

Nothing you already own goes to waste. As goals shift and kids grow, the same handle grows with them.

"This is the best oral motor tool that I have found. I love that you can buy one handle and multiple different tips for different patients." — Caroline, clinician

Five new tips have recently launched too:

  • Massage Tip (included with every Plus handle). Ribbed all around to roll across the lips, cheeks, and tongue and help wake up the mouth.
  • Circle, Racetrack, and Hex Tips. A chewable trio inspired by the Grabber® loop, useful for biting, bilateral chewing, and oral sensory input. Together they offer varied thicknesses for jaw grading and textures from mild to high input.
  • Zig Zag Tip. A lightning-shaped chewable tip that reaches the back molars, engaging for kids and functional for biting and chewing skills.

Original or Plus? Both are right.

This isn't old versus new, it's about matching the tool to the goal. It really comes down to one question: do you want a single tried-and-true vibration level, or do you need room to adjust as you go?

What families and therapists tell us:

"I exhausted all the traditional oral motor exercises and strategies with my client, with no luck. One session with the Z-Vibe and he was elevating his tongue. He went home and told his mom he could finally move his tongue." — Mia Rose, SLP

"My 21 month old with Down syndrome has always refused food. Feeding was always a fight. With the Z-Vibe, she willingly lets me feed her." — Sar, parent

"Day two of using the Z-Vibe, my 18-month-old's hand chewing is getting better, and he has stopped grinding his teeth." — Meagan, parent

Progress like this happens as part of guided, supervised use, with the Z-Vibe supporting the work parents and therapists do together.

Same go-to system, more ways in

Whether you've used the Z-Vibe for years or you're finding it for the first time, the Plus gives you more room to meet each person exactly where they are. Same system. Same care that goes into every Z-Vibe we make in South Carolina. A little more control to adjust as you go.
