Soft and very chewy for mild chewers or those with limited jaw strength|||ARK's Grabber® is our original and most popular chew tool. Invented by Debra C. Lowsky, MS, CCC-SLP, the Grabber comes in 3 different color-coded toughness levels. This version (magenta or red) is soft and chewy, perfect for mild chewers and/or as an oral motor tool for individuals with low oral tone / jaw strength. Use it to exercise the lips, tongue, cheeks, and especially the jaw, allowing the mouth to learn and grow strong through oral exploration. It can also be used:
Made in the USA by ARK Therapeutic. Medical grade, FDA compliant, NO lead, phthalates, PVC, BPA, or latex.
Caution: This product is not a toy. Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear/tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use. How long they last is typically equal to the amount and intensity of the chewing, as well as other variables (such as jaw strength, stress/anxiety levels, if other sensory strategies are in place, etc.). While for some people a chew tool will last forever, for others with heavy/aggressive oral needs, they may go through it very quickly. Please supervise at all times and replace if necessary if the item shows signs of wear and tear. For a tougher version of the Grabber, check out the XT and XXT options. The Grabber was one of ARK's very first inventions! 15 years ago, this solution was inspired by one of Debbie's therapy kiddos. He was chewing through several shirts a day, and his mother was struggling to find a safer (and less expensive) alternative for him to chew on.
To meet this oral sensory need, Debbie and her husband John (a mechanical engineer) decided to develop ARK's Grabber. Although they still debate which one of them came up with the clever P shape design, one thing's for sure: the built-in loop handle makes it easy for kids through adults to hold, and the long extension reaches the back molar area for proprioceptive feedback to the jaw and masseter muscle - where it's needed most.
Debbie quickly realized that the Grabber could also be used as a non-food oral motor device to practice chewing, jaw work, tongue lateralization, and more. The Grabber has since been successfully used by speech, feeding, and occupational therapists worldwide to improve oral motor skills. Very compromised child loves to chew on this item. Easy to clean and lasts long Beth
Works well for a little on who loves to run into safe objects and receive pressure for sensory stim Adrienne
I am a retailer near the Marcus Institute for Autism. The have one of the premier feeding programs in the country. they highly recommend the Pink Grabber and send their patience to us to purchase it. It is one of my best selling chew products.
This softer Ark grabber feels so good to chew on! Just ask my boy who cannot get enough of them! I do have to say that this softer purple does not last a super long time for an intense, constant chewer. We had to move to the more durable green version.
The ARK Grabber is a great for children seeking sensory input from chewing. A safe alternative from mouthing or chewing on toys, books, etc. It also helps promote awareness of the oral cavity and is great for oral motor therapy to decrease sensitivities and defensiveness.
After purchasing this product my son stop chewing on things that were not good for him including his brother. lol He has made some improvement since using this product. He does not chew as much as before.
This is a great "chewy" for kids that chew on everything! Most kids seem to like chewing on this.
