ARK's Cip-Kup™ Assembly
- Description
- Customer Reviews
ARK's Cip-Kup™ Assembly includes: 1 flexible Cip-Kup™ bottle, 1 Lip Blok™ (standard ¾" size), 8 inches of special polytube, 1 select-flow valve, and 12 clear straws.
ARK's Cip-Kup™ allows individuals to learn or re-learn straw drinking with less effort. It also makes drinking easier for individuals with difficulties generating and maintaining suction - simply squeeze the liquid to the desired height and release. The valve will allow fluid to remain in the straw without flowing back into the cup, thereby reducing the air ingested and the effort required to drink (notice the juice staying at the top of the straw in one of the pictures above). The valve also slows the flow of fluid, which allows for more control over the quantity of fluid taken with each sip and helps to ensure that fluid is deposited in the front of the mouth. Users experience less coughing and choking while drinking with the Cip-Kup™ and tend to consume more fluid. It can also make the move from bottle-feeding to cup drinking an easier transition. When purchased, the valve opening is set for moderate restriction for users who tend to aspirate when taking too much fluid in one swallow. The valve can also be trimmed to increase the flow, further decreasing the effort required to drink. Use a Lip Blok™ to discourage biting on the straw or inserting the straw too far into the mouth. It is not recommended that the Cip-Kup™ be used with carbonated beverages. ARK's Cip-Kup™ is made of medical grade materials that are FDA compliant and contain no lead, phthalates, PVC, BPA, or latex. All parts are dishwasher-safe and available separately.
MADE in the USA ensures that all plastics and colors are compliant with the FDA.

My son really likes this cup and so do I. It's easy to use and I can see how much he's drinking too. My son has Spastic CP in addition to Short Gut Syndrome, so holding cups can be a hard task for him. He finds this cup to be just the right size and can manipulate it himself. Definitely recommend this to other parents. |

I have a 9 month old baby with Down Syndrome and I am trying to transition her off the G Tube back to oral feeds. I bought this product because a friend recommended it - it had worked with her daughter in the same scenario. At first I was hesitant because of the price but my daughter learned how to use this Cip-Kup in no time and that has made it worth every penny. A couple of the super important features that are lacking in the competition are the tongue shield and the valve. The tongue shield on the straw prevents tongue thrust and also prevents the straw from going too deep into the mouth and gagging the child. The valve at the bottom of the straw is very valuable because it controls the amount of flow that enters the child's mouth, preventing aspiration. It also will not allow the liquid to empty from the straw back into the cup if your child releases the suction. This is critical because often times little kids with low tone don't have enough oral suction to maintain the liquid flow so keeping it in the straw certainly helps the process. I would highly recommend this product. |
