ARK's Every Lip Blok™ Combo Pack

ARK's Lip Blok™ prevents individuals from biting the straw and/or inserting the straw too far into the mouth. Use these tools to discourage tongue-thrusting, to promote tongue retraction, and to correct overall tongue position. They can also be helpful with tensing for controlled lip and tongue movement. Try varying the liquid consistencies to supplement your other intervention strategies for increasing sensory awareness, symmetry, coordination, graded control for liquids, jaw stability, and lip, tongue, and cheek function. The Lip Blok™ fits into any regular straw and comes in three different lengths - 1/4", 1/2", and the standard 3/4". They are also available in a flexible material (firm and soft) that allows you to cut them to any desired length. This kit includes one of each Lip Blok™ (the three sizes plus the two flexible versions). Cups and straws sold separately. Each Lip Blok™ is constructed of medical grade materials that are FDA compliant and contain no lead, phthalates, PVC, BPA, or latex.

• ARK's Lip Blok™ works the mouth muscles naturally. Simply press the stem into any regular drinking straw, and you're set to go!
• Use the longest 3/4" Lip Blok™ first, then the 1/2", and finally the 1/4". This hierarchy allows individuals to slowly adjust to the shorter length, which in turn teaches them to insert less of the straw into the mouth. The flexible Lip Bloks can be cut to any of these lengths with a pair of scissors.
• Try varying the liquid consistencies to supplement your other intervention strategies for increasing sensory awareness, symmetry, coordination, graded control for liquids, jaw stability, and lip, tongue, and cheek function.

I have seen great improvement in lip pursing and general oral muscle tone with use of the lip blok. I have also sent the lip blok home with families and they have seen continued benefit with home use and have been so pleased that such a simple option can benefit their child so much.

I bought a similar product from another company before, but it was just a circular disc with a hole in the middle. To prevent it from sliding down the straw, the instructions said to put a rubber band on the straw under the lip blok. That has to be a choking hazard! I much prefer this design. No measuring where to put it on the straw, no rubber bands, no worries. I just push one into the tip of a straw and that's it.

These are great, especially the 1/4 and 1/2 inch! This is a much easier way of getting young children to use only their lips to straw drink and has been very helpful in my practice. Many parents request additional items in order to have one ready at all times. The flexible Lip Bloks allow you to select the perfect size for your patients. A great invention!
