The Grabber XT® not only allows individuals to exert lots of jaw pressure, but it also provides an excellent opportunity for jaw movement, tongue movement, and oral exploration. It is also a safe and durable alternative to tooth-grinding and/or chewing on hazardous non-food items. Combo Pack Scented Grabber Review, 2.13.2011

We have been buying these ARK XT Grabbers in bulk since around 2004 (it is 2011 now), our child goes through a LOT of them! We use a few toddler fun links to attach the grabber to our child's collar so it is handy for him (please use careful consideration when doing this, it is usually NOT a good idea to let special needs children use these Grabber products unsupervised). He's a feeding-resistant little kid on a limited diet of preferred soft foods, this tool gives him excellent jaw strengthening exercises he can't get anywhere else. It has also become a much safer anger outlet for him, he used to try to bite people when he was angry, now when he has a fit he chomps on his grabber until he calms down. Public school caregivers are hot and cold on this product. One of our child's teachers/speech teachers introduced us to them and we have always agreed. Then the next teacher and the school staged a nasty paranoid obnoxious embarrassing ambush, collecting a few that had begun to fray over the year and then rather than just intelligently and compassionately cutting off the frayed part, they ambushed us in an annual review to show all the professionals present that the products fray (we told them they fray, we told them to send them home or cut them down, I just think this tells you OCEANS about the way some horrible people act on our tax dollars, but I digress), and they made a big stupid show of how unsafe they are. Then the next series of the next four teachers at the very same school see the benefits of our child using the grabbers and they have since encouraged us to send them in. They complain when we don't. Go figure. Dear Thomas, It is wonderful to hear that your son is benefiting from our Grabbers! We are very sorry, however, for the trouble that you've had to go through to let him use them in school. Debbie Lowsky (the co-owner and SLP behind our company) was a clinician in the school systems for over 20 years and fully understands the difficulties that can come with bureaucracy. But someone needs to be the child's advocate in these situations, and we thank you for doing that! If you run into more trouble with administrators/teachers/etc., please remind them that yes, aggressive and persistent chewing can cause breakage and/or fraying (which is true of any chew tool). However, like you said, the Grabbers provide a safe and necessary outlet for chewing that would otherwise be directed elsewhere. You can also stress that they are made from 100% medical grade, non-toxic materials that are FDA approved. Very few chew tools can attest to the same safety standards, not to mention the fact that they are made right here in the USA, where we can oversee the manufacturing process and make sure that the materials meet the highest standards for our customers.
